Oysterponds Historical Society

Founded in 1944, the Oysterponds Historical Society endeavors to preserve and interpret teh history of Orient, east marion, and the North Fork for residents and visitors alike. Their campus is composed of seven historic buildings that you will visit on your tour today.

The Red Barn

The Red Barn began as a grain market at teh wharf and was later used as a seine house for repairing and storing fishnets; it therefore reflects both the farming and teh fishing heritage of the area. Today it houses a collection of carriages, wagons, and sleds. OHS hopes to have it open to the opublic in the near future.
