The remaining 2,112 crystal triangles feature the Gift of Imaginationdesign with a series of intricate wedge cuts that are mirrored reflections of each other inspiring our imagination. The 2,688 Waterford Crystal triangles are bolted to 672 LED modules which are attached to the aluminum frame of the Ball. Nike Soho

From Business Insider:Nike is reimagining its retail experience. New York City's Soho neighborhood is where the brand is making its stand, with a 55,000-square-foot store spread across five floors in a newly constructed building. But what makes this store different from Nike's other retail outlets in the city?Chief among them are what Nike is calling "immersive experiences." If you ever wanted to do a layup in a pair of Jordans before dropping some cash on them, now you can. Cameras in the store track your movements and progress in these experiences and upload it to the Nike+ app. The store is completely connected, intended to bridge the gap between digital and brick and mortar. Not only will it know your stride and the last time you got on the store's treadmill, it will know which shoes you tried on last time, too.A guided sales team will take time to be with you one-on-one for up to an hour, whether you're trying on running shoes or shooting baskets."We see [the store] as the global debut of the future of sport retail, and we see Soho as the start," Heidi O'Neill, Nike's president of direct to consumer initiatives, told Business Insider. The store, which opens for business November 18, comes at a pivotal time for Nike, which is running into problems with select parts of its third-party retail business and is shifting focus to its steadily growing direct-to-consumer division. Nike is hoping that it can take this store concept and apply it, either as a whole or in part, to other areas around the country.

REBECCA MINKOFF

The mirror in the fitting room of Rebecca Minkoff’s SoHo store doubles as a personal shopping assistant, inviting shoppers to reflect (in every sense of the word) on which designer handbag suits their taste. A touchscreen display suggests alternative designs and colors. Shoppers can flip through their options, make a purchase or even adjust the mood lighting.“You can come in here and be completely anonymous, or you can get VIP treatment,” Minkoff told TIME in an in-depth profile of the futuristic touchscreens. The mirrors are powered by inventory management software from eBay. Users can see precisely what the store has in stock, rather than ask an assistant to go rifling through inventory “in back.”According to eBay, each of the four Minkoff stores will feature new tech features developed by eBay’s innovation team, including:• Check-in upon arrival: Through the Rebecca Minkoff mobile app, a shopper will be able to check-in to the store upon arrival which prompts their personal profile to be carried across Rebecca Minkoff store channels – helping store associates provide a more personal, customized experience.• Connected Glass shopping wall: A mirrored, physical manifestation of Rebecca Minkoff digital content. A shopper can select “send to my room” to initiate a 1:1 styling session.• Interactive fitting rooms: A touch screen mirror recognizes items in the room, identifying other sizes and colors that are available in the store. If the shopper needs a different size, a simple touch of the mirror submits the request to a store associate. The ubiquity of mobile devices, and the fact that both shoppers and in-store associates have access to them, will also help the Connected Store engage shoppers.• The Rebecca Minkoff mobile app: Just launched on iTunes, Minkoff’s first app will play a vital role in the Connected Store, offering “Beautiful, streamlined e-commerce experiences; social integration; real-time shopping option updates that store associates can share with shoppers.”
