She started playing with clay 8 years ago and now it is her full time project. Originally hailing from The Pacific Northwest and now residing in Tiverton, RI, Holly tends to incorporate elements of the ocean and mountains into her pottery. What makes her work unique and special is that she has developed many of her own glazes. These glazes reflect the colors and feelings that are evoked in her while being surrounded by the natural splendor of water and land. She knows them both well. Holly circumnavigated the North Atlantic Ocean, with her husband, on their sailboat. She has experienced many sea states from becalmed seas, gales, sunrises and sunsets in the middle of the ocean. She has also hiked into many of the alpine lakes in the Cascade Mountains in her home state of Washington.Holly's pottery pieces are meant to be used and loved freely. They are all oven proof, food, microwave and dishwasher safe. Her goal is for the owner of her pieces to also feel the connection to the ocean and mountains as they are being used.Studio is located at the top of the long driveway. That’s why I work in multimedia, and my work has many muses and voices." Her abstractions are often the language of celebrating scientific advancements for cures in medicine, or greatly inspired by music, imagination, and the simplest distillation of life’s expanding road trip. The works of whimsy are frequently cows from working farms, and all forms of nature. Kelly enjoys any chance to connect with her love of gleaming barns, funny farm animals, blooms, and the water.
