As you enter the main koala habitat area on Raymond Island at the top of 5th and 12 Avenues, you will see on your left the northerly entrance to the Nature Trail loop. The Nature Trail loop is an easy 1.4km walk that takes you through one of the most beautiful, tranquil and peaceful parts of the island. As you begin your walk along the Nature Trail loop from the northern end, it is important to remember to stay on the path, as on your right, you will see large areas undergoing re-generation with thousands of native shrubs and trees being planted. All along the Nature Trail you will come across many small oval signs which identify the many trees and shrubs you will pass on the trail. These interpretive signs reflect the knowledge held by Traditional Owners, with a focus on traditionally used plants in the area.Make sure you keep looking up in all the trees for the many koalas that make this quiet part of the island their favourite spot.
Follow the Trail to the Lake
After a few hundred metres you will come to the Northern tip of the Nature Trail at the corner of Centre Road and 7th Avenue. Turn right and about 80 metres ahead you will see the green sign with a map showing you where you are on the trail. As you walk almost directly south down the path towards the lake edge, take in the strong sweet smell of the Sweet Pittosporum trees.
Yarning Circle

Head west along the winding path through the banksia woodland. After a few hundred metres, you will come out into the more open area of the trail, where you will see more environmental regeneration taking place as well as many opportunities to spot koalas in the Manna Gum trees that koalas love.
