🚗 Keep Left – Always!

• In New Zealand, all vehicles must drive on the left-hand side of the road.

• Keep to the left before and after turns, at intersections, and on quiet roads where it may feel tempting to drift.

⚠ Give Way Rules

• At intersections without signs or lights: Give way to all vehicles coming from your right.

• At roundabouts: Give way to traffic from your right and travel clockwise.

🛑 Stop Signs & Give Way Signs

• Stop completely at STOP signs before proceeding.

• Slow down and give way where marked.

🚦 Speed Limits

• Urban/village areas: 30 km/h unless otherwise signposted.

• Rural/open roads: 50-60 km/h maximum.

• Many Waiheke roads are narrow and winding—drive slower when needed.

🏝 Tourist Tip – Drive for the Conditions

• Watch for cyclists, pedestrians, and slow-moving vehicles.

• Expect gravel roads in some areas—reduce speed and keep extra distance.

📵 No Phones While Driving

• Using a handheld phone while driving is illegal in New Zealand.

• Use hands-free or pull over safely if needed.
