BERMUDA SMART TOURS INTRO :-
Hello, there and welcome to the sub-tropical Island of Bermuda, our very own Paradise in the Atlantic Ocean with our long tail birds and natural habitats. This place of Paradise is a twenty-one square mile jewel, surrounded by the turquoise blue water of the Atlantic Ocean. Our crystal clear water is not only a source of exquisite beauty at the Horeshoe Bay, amongst several other beaches on the coastline of Bermuda. Learn and understand the reasoning behind our unique architectural design of rain catching white roofs and pastel-coloured houses.
Bermuda is well equipped with two Light Houses at each of the island. With a source for a myriad of activities. Enjoy its beauty while walking our railroad trails, beach strolling, swimming, or sun-bathing at our stunning pink sand beaches and serene private coves. Or perhaps you’d prefer the joys of its depths while snorkeling, diving, or fishing. You like company? Try swimming with the dolphins or our flamboyantly colorful parrot fish. Natural caves provide cool, teal blue underground grottos, featuring stalactites and stalagmites & columns for memorable photo ops. Choose boating, jet-skiing, parasailing, cliff diving and more! So much fun in the sun! Interested in land sports? Whether you choose a walk on our trails, tennis, biking, cricket, football (soccer), rugby or golf, there is something for everyone! Did you know that we hosted 35th America's Cup yacht race, World Rugby Classic and maintain PGA standard golf courses? Depending on when you visit, partake of our local holidays, celebrations and festivities you will enjoy the beauty of our unique island. In April, enjoy Good Friday when locals gather all over the island to indulge in the preparation and consumption of hot cross buns and fish cakes. Taste and compare the various recipes! The sky is decorated with variety of color and sound as locals fly their vibrant homemade “hummer” kites. Horseshoe Bay Beach is a popular stop for locals and tourists alike on Good Friday. Enjoy Easter Sunday at one of our numerous churches. Fun fact! Bermuda has the most churches per capita in the world! On the last Friday in May, join us for Bermuda Day which hails a half marathon alternates from east to west end of the island, a lively parade through the city of Hamilton, cultural food and lots of fun. The month of June features our Bermuda Heroes weekend which also includes the Bermuda Carnival. Witness endless dancers in striking costumes as they twist, twirl, and gyrate with the music bands. You won’t be able to resist jumping to the beat! Cup Match weekend is a 2-day event at the end of July and the beginning of August. It’s a celebration of emancipation of slavery with a cricket match between teams from the east and west ends of the island. Locals indulge in jovial island rivalries, and lots of family activities. It is beyond unique! A Bermuda Christmas officially starts on Boxing Day with the closing of most businesses, and continues till the first week in January. Islanders travel around to observe neighbors’ beautiful Christmas lights and decorations, visit friends for a seasonal toast, and reminisce about the year’s bounties and trials. Throughout the seasons, our Bermuda Gombey dance troupes can always be found dancing throughout neighborhoods especially on Boxing Day, accompanied by their distinctive drums and whistles. If you enjoy flora & fauna, a visit to our Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Arts the Botanical Gardens is a must. However, in everyday travel you’ll be enchanted along the way by our lush greenery, palms and pines, and delights such as the colorful Oleander and Hibiscus flower hedges. Look out for our national flower the Bermudiana, which is a pretty purple color hosting a yellow center. We grow the finest Easter Lilies and send Queen Elizabeth a standing order annually (she has graced us with 4 visits since her coronation). Our Bermuda Juniper (which we fondly call Bermuda cedar) is a favorite resource for art pieces and home décor. Its fragrant aroma is soothing to the senses. You’re bound to need nourishment right? Wine down during the day or under the stars by feasting at one of our numerous restaurants or cocktail hot spots. Enjoy one of our favorite Bermudian Culinary Delights such as Bermuda Cod Fish & Potatoes, Fish Sandwiches, Fish Cakes, Fish Chowder, Mussel Pie, or Conch Stew. Top it off with a Dark & Stormy or Rum Swizzle if you dare to indulge! Whatever your desire, you shouldn't be disappointed afternoon tea at the Bermuda Perfumery is always an option as well and it’s enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Ask any local. The choices are endless. Would you like to leave with a “piece of the Bermuda ONION PATCH”? Our current population of approx. 65,000 people in this British Overseas Territory is comprised of many backgrounds and cultures. This is reflected in our arts scene and our locally made souvenirs. Please visit one of our local art galleries such as the Bermuda Arts Center in Dockyard where you can also find the Dockyard Glassworks. The city of Hamilton and St George's Parish also houses many places where you can find samples of locally made souvenirs.
This snippet of our rich history & culture began with a shipwreck in ST.GEORGE'S 1609 to the Oldest Town in the New World and evolved into a 21st-century international business centre and tourist mecca plus Diaspora Trails. We’re confident that you will thoroughly enjoy your visit to Bermuda and please know, that you’re about to embark on a tour of a lifetime!
