Tour Overview
Welcome to the Samuel Palmer Trail, devised by artists Victoria Bathurst and Sarah Newman with the support of the Darent Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme. The Trail takes you from the church in Shoreham past houses and features familiar to Samuel Palmer along the Darent Valley as far as Lullingstone Country Park. Here the path returns in a circle along the high side of the valley.
You will hear about Palmer’s life as you walk but do pause to take in the views.
At five miles, the trail will take between two and a half and three hours with stops. There are plenty of places to have refreshments in Shoreham and at Lullingstone café. Works of Palmer’s will be referred to by number during the audio trail. I hope you will take inspiration from the walk and seek out his body of work for yourself. Sit back or stroll and immerse yourself in the life of one of Britain’s most talented artists.
