Tour Overview
The Bucklands Beach Loop takes in the suburb of Bucklands Beach, and its peninsula which has spectacular views over the Tāmaki River and the inner Hauraki Gulf. Along the way, you will learn much about the history of the area.
Start at the ferry terminal at the Half Moon Bay Marina. There is plenty of parking here, and bus routes 714 (from Bucklands Beach) and 734 and 735 (from Botany) come to the Half Moon Bay ferry terminal. Passenger ferries depart from here for downtown Auckland, and car ferries to Waiheke Island.
The full Bucklands Beach loop is around 10km long so should take two and a half hours walking or one hour cycling – depending on how long you linger at the various stops. There is a shorter option, crossing the Bucklands Beach peninsula about half way up, and this is 6km long, taking one and a half hour walking and about 45 minutes cycling.
