Tour Overview
Berlin's Vanished Canal audio-tour takes you on a time-travel trip through Berlin-Mitte and Berlin-Kreuzberg along one of Berlin's oldest - and by now long-gone - man-made waterways.
While the Landwehrkanal, a popular inner-city canal which we will reach at the end of this walk, remains one of the best-loved sights in the city, the Luisenstädtische Kanal disappeared in the 1920s, replaced by an unusual public park created in its former bed.
Why it was built, who used it and what part it played in the history of Berlin long after it had vanished - all this awaits you over the one-hour long stroll through the past and present of one of the most fascinating areas in this city. All you need are a bit of time, comfy shoes and an open ear.
