Tour Overview
On the Fear and Fever: Dublin's struggle with typhoid walking tour, learn about the everyday tragedies connected to typhoid, the factors that enabled its spread, and how Dublin authorities tried to stop it. And finally, discover what the unappetising connection is between typhoid and Dublin’s famous daughter, Molly Malone.
Tour starting point:
The tour begins outside the old Rates Office (also called the old Newcomen Bank) on the corner of Lord Edward Street/Cork Hill and Castle Street - just across from Dublin City Hall. Click this link to open googlemaps and get directions to the start from your location. Once you've found the right spot click the Start Tour button below to begin - this will launch the audio and take you to a map screen on the app.
How the tour works:
As you explore Dublin with Lizzie, she'll give you clear instructions about where to go, but you'll also see that each stop has an image on your phone so you know what to look out for. You can also always consult the map on your device if you're unsure. Click the back arrow at the top left of this screen and select the 'How to use the app' button on the Fear and Fever homepage for a guide to using the map and other app features.
Safety:
Dublin is a busy city. Stay aware of your surroundings: take care when you’re crossing roads and use pedestrian crossings wherever possible, and watch out for uneven surfaces and any other hazards. Users of this audio tour are responsible for their own safety at all times.
