Tour Overview
Saanajärvi Science Trail takes you on a journey to the clean and beautiful Lake Saanajärvi and to the past. To World War II and to thousands of years ago when pine trees covered the landscape of Kilpisjärvi. You will also have the possibility to explore the amazing science behind everything from the soundscape and wintertime snow cover of the area, to the sediments lingering at the bottom of Lake Saanajärvi as well as the plants, lichens and animals growing, living, and lingering around the trail you are walking.
Please note that the first four stops on the Saana and Saanajärvi Science Trails are identical.
