Barry Ross Smith
Barry Ross Smith is an oil painter creating surreal imagery of islands dotted with colonial villas and oversized birds. His works obliquely draw concern for our environment and the after effects of colonialism upon our native species. They feature in public, private and corporate collections across New Zealand, Australia, Europe, North America and Asia.New work usually begins with a few sessions in the studio surrounded by books, an iPad and a stick of charcoal, pencil or brush in hand. Often days go by sketching, researching concepts, procrastinating, daydreaming and drinking black coffee. The ideas come from connecting different images from my lived experience, the stream of consciousness and recent musings - much as in a dream, these disparate ideas form a new concept"Creating new ideas is intuitive, it means not knowing what you're looking for - but knowing when you see it"AddressGreenhithe Old School Building15A Collins ParkGreenhithe RoadGreenhitheAuckland 0632
Jacqueline Letham Artist
Mixed media artist Jacqueline enjoys creating paintings with many materials. Texture, colour and mark making bring emotion into all her artworks. With a background in fashion and textiles Jacqueline brings a sense of design into her creations. She also creates bird assemblages from found objects under the name of Wingit.Sandwiched between east and west coasts and the Waitamata harbour I am never short of inspiration. I like to find the emotion or a sense of place within my work, characteristics that remain with you long after. Each painting encourages the viewer to look closer, drawing them in to reveal new details and hidden meanings. Perhaps showing you a different and unfamiliar world.I have been an artist/maker for well over 20 years, I graduated from uni with a degree in fashion and textile design. Following this I have created various artefacts and sold my work in London, Cornwall and after relocating here 20 years ago, to collectors in Aotearoa. I also run workshops and art sessions. I will have a small exhibition to view and my works in progress. There will be opportunities to discuss workshops I run and you can join in with a demo or two. Artworks will be available to purchase by online bank deposit.Address8 Amherst Place AlbanyParkingStreet parking but please respect other residents

Meet the artist behind the work and discover ceramics that go beyond functionality, celebrating uniqueness and the beauty of artistic expression. JoannaAlina CeramicsI make pottery as therapy. With each family of work, I'm exploring a process of making: be it textures, shapes and raw materials. Focusing on the "how" not so much the "what". The works I complete are a tremendous effort of energy and focus. Sometimes unpredictable, often times overlooked. I love everything about ceramics, from the labour to the creativity, an ongoing exploration into a state of mind.
